What are molds?Molds are everywhere — indoors and outdoors. They are simple, single cell, microscopic organisms and their purpose is to break down organic materials.
They only need moisture and one organic food source to reproduce. The organic food can be anything from leaves to paper to wood studs or joists in your home. Mold grow by digesting the organic material and gradually destroy their host. They can be seen on surfaces they on which they grow in the form of discoloration frequently green, brown, gray and the dreaded black mold. Molds release countless tiny, lightweight spores, which travel through the air unseen. When they land on some organic material and have some moisture, they begin to thrive.
